Ready at Dawn has revealed that its upcoming PlayStation 4 title The Order: 1886 was in development limbo for a number of years until Sony distributed dev kits for next-generation hardware.
Speaking with Polygon, creative director Ru Weerasuriya revealed that the team was unable to meet its lofty goals for the project with current hardware, and as such opted to wait for PS4 tech to arrive.
For those out of the loop, The Order: 1886 takes the form of a steampunk shooter, and is set in an alternate universe where the Industrial Revolution materialized as an effort to battle against inhuman foes as part of a centuries-old war.
Ready at Dawn is perhaps best known for its work on the God of War titles for PlayStation Portable – namely Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta – which later formed part of the God of War Origins Collection.
The Order: 1886 is due out exclusively for PS4, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
