Danger Close Studios, the development team responsible for Medal of Honor and its sequel MoH: Warfighter, have dissolved, Electronic Arts has confirmed.
While the company no longer exists, EA’s Patrick Soderlund confirmed that much of it has been assimilated into existing companies such as DICE L.A. and other branches of EA.
"Danger Close as it was doesn't exist anymore," he told Eurogamer. "There are people who left L.A., people who work with DICE L.A., and there are some who work in other parts of EA, as always when something gets dismantled."
The future of Danger Close looked bleak following the disappointing critical and commercial performance of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which was released for multiple formats last year. The game is only the second title in the series following its reasonable-successful reboot in 2010.
However, following the game’s poor showing, EA confirmed that it had taken the Medal of Honor franchise ‘out of rotation’ for the foreseeable future. A new game for PlayStation Vita was reportedly in development prior to Danger Close's closure.
DICE’s Stockholm branch is currently working on a number of high-profile titles, including Mirror’s Edge 2, Battlefield 4 and Battlefront.
