There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

Guerilla talks Killzone: Shadow Fall on PS4

You are here: Home » News » Killzone: Shadow Fall » Guerilla talks Killzone: Shadow ...

Posted June 26th, 2013 at 13:03 EDT by PSU Staff3 Comments

Guerilla Games' latest iteration in the explosive Killzone series looks set to step up to the next level on PlayStation 4 with Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Speaking to the Official PlayStation Magazine, game director Steven Ter Heide gave readers an insight into a few of the technical changes that are set to make it look better and perform smoother than any Killzone game to date.

“The first thing that people notice is fidelity,” says Steven. “It’s running in 1080p, whereas the last game was running in 720p – that immediately makes a difference. The particle resolution had to be very low [on PS3], but because we’ve got loads more memory [now] we can have higher particle resolutions. More HDR lighting gives lots more range in the type of light we have in this level; both the amount of post-processing effects, and the quality of these effects. That’s the kind of thing people notice when looking at the difference between PS3 and PS4. The games look prettier."

The full interview can be found on the Official PlayStation Magazine website, where Steven also talks about how the PlayStation 4 architecture has allowed it to gather more NPCs on screen at one time, approximately 60 in total and how it’s managed to create “the illusion of a living world”.

For insight into how Killzone: Shadow Fall actually plays, check out PSU's hands-on preview and the E3 interview from OPM.

Killzone: Shadow Fall will be a PS4 launch title when Sony’s next-generation console is released later this year.

Killzone: Shadow Fall impressed Sony enough to make it PS4 reveal centerpiece

You are here: Home » News » Killzone: Shadow Fall » Killzone: Shadow Fall impressed ...

Posted June 19th, 2013 at 04:34 EDT by Lee Millington1 Comments

It has come to light that Killzone: Shadow Fall was not always going to be the headline title at the PlayStation 4's reveal in February. When NowGamer spoke to Eric Boltjes, lead designer at Killzone: Shadowfall's development studio Guerrilla Games, it was revealed that the game impressed Sony enough that it was made so, and it also seems that Guerrilla won influence with their parent company.

The revelation came when NowGamer asked Boltjes if Guerrilla felt the pressure of knowing that their title would be put to the forefront of the PS4's reveal at the PlayStation Meeting in February. Boltjes explained that the studio had not always expected the game to carry that importance.

"We started working on the PS4 title and it became that good that they wanted to make it the centrepiece, which is very flattering. But once we knew that, it brought a lot of pressure."

He continued by explaining how the studio received "a lot of support and a lot of patience from Sony." Boltje claims that Sony has even taken their advice on board. "For example, the controller, we were actually involving in developing the controller as well. We gave tips like hey, can you make the triggers bigger and stuff like that." This might not have been the case had the game not been of such clear importance to Sony.

Killzone: Shadowfall will be one of the PS4's first-party launch titles. Take a look at the lengthy 21-minute gameplay showcase.

Posted June 19th, 2013 at 08:25 EDT by Mike Harradence2 Comments

PlayStation 4 will allow users to split their download of Killzone: Shadow Fall into two distinct flavours: single-player and multiplayer.

That’s according to a new PS4 video interface video, which showcases how one can happily plug away at a game (in this case, Knack) before seamlessly transition to the PlayStation Store to purchase Killzone and then returning to your game.

Those of you who are perhaps more interested in playing one particular aspect of a title like Killzone will no doubt be pleased you can opt to download the area which interests you most first without having to wait for the full product.

What do you think of PS4’s new download interface? Are you the type to download separate components of a game or do you instead prefer to grab the full product in a single move? Let us know in the comments section below.

Microsoft's epic fail as E3 teaser shows PS4's Killzone: Shadow Fall

You are here: Home » News » Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3... » Killzone: Shadow Fall » Microsoft's epic fail as E3...

Posted June 6th, 2013 at 07:22 EDT by Mike Harradence6 Comments

PlayStation 4’s Killzone: Shadow Fall has set tongues wagging all over the web since its unveiling back in February, but the last place we expected it to receive air time is on Microsoft’s own Facebook page.

Indeed, it seems the Big M made a major blunder today when teasing its E3 games showcase, with Microsoft Netherland's Facebook page posting a screenshot of Shadow Fall for all to see. Or perhaps they’re just a closet fan of Guerrilla Games’ acclaimed sci-fi shooter series and couldn't contain their anticipation -- who knows?

The game appears alongside the likes of Forza 5, Call of Duty: Ghosts and the new Madden. Check it out below.

Still, whatever gets the word around, eh folks?

PS4 PlayGo 'play as you download' feature detailed for Killzone: Shadow Fall

You are here: Home » News » Killzone: Shadow Fall » PS4 PlayGo 'play as you download...

Posted May 30th, 2013 at 17:33 EDT by Will Robinson5 Comments

During Sony’s PlayStation Meeting back in February, one of the key features shared about PlayStation 4 was its ability to play games as you download them. So far, Sony has yet to reveal much information on how this functionality works. Thanks to a new developer diary released today, we know how Killzone: Shadow Fall will be able to do this.

“You can play it while it’s downloading,” states Guerilla Games' technical director Michiel van der Leeuw. “You’re going to download a chunk of the game, you get the menu and the first level and while you’re playing the first level it downloads the second level in the background.”

Killzone: Shadow Fall was one of our first looks into the next generation of gaming on PlayStation 4, and its debut is eagerly awaited. Set as a PS4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall’s release date is still unknown.

Are you excited for a new Killzone? What do you think of the “play as you download” feature? How do you think this feature will work with games like open-world RPGs? Let us know in the comments below!
