There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

PS4's DriveClub targeting 60fps

You are here: Home » News » DriveClub » PS4's DriveClub targeting 60fps

Posted June 19th, 2013 at 05:03 EDT by Mike Harradence1 Comments

The developer behind PlayStation 4-exclusive racer DriveClub is ‘targeting’ 60fps for the title.

Speaking with TSA, game director Col Rodgers said “the game is obviously currently in development…we’re aiming towards [60FPS] but aren’t making any promises right now.”

Evolution showcased a playable demo of DriveClub at E3 last week, which was clocked at 30FPS and was only around 35 per cent.

DriveClub is due out alongside Sony’s next-generation this holiday season. We went hands-on with the game at E3 last week, so be sure to check out our impressions below.

How do you think DriveClub is shaping up? Let us know in the comments section below.

DriveClub vs Gran Turismo isn't an issue for Evolution Studios

You are here: Home » News » Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3... » DriveClub » DriveClub vs Gran Turismo i...

Posted June 18th, 2013 at 08:58 EDT by Mike Harradence0 Comments

The developer behind upcoming PlayStation 4 racer DriveClub has insisted it isn’t worried about competition from Gran Turismo 6, as it doesn’t consider the Polyphony Digital title a rival.

Although both games are released at roughly the same time, Evolution Studios told VideoGamer.com that DriveClub offers more of a ‘pick up and play’ approach to driving, while GT is simulation-based. As such, they're too entirely different gameplay experiences, and won't be competing against each other.

"We don't see Gran Turismo as a rival title,” commented senior designer Ben Gouldstone.

"We focus on the development of DriveClub and what it embodies. It comes back to issuing challenges, it comes back to the community side of things and clubs. It comes back to driving the greatest cars and the greatest roads. They're our colours, that's what we focus on, and that's the message we look to deliver, and I think that resonates with the gaming community."

"The way that we're pitching DriveClub is to essentially have that instant pick up and playability, but [with] depth," he continued. "So if you've got someone who is fairly new to racing games, they can put the pad in their hand and set somewhat competitive lap times. But then if you're all about full-on, shaving tenths of a second, you can do that too."

DriveClub will be a launch title for PlayStation 4, though Sony plans to offer the game to PlayStation Plus subscribers for free in the shape of the stripped-down PS Plus Edition.

PSU.com’s Kyle Prahl got behind the wheel of Evolution Studios’ latest IP at E3 last week – check out his impressions below.

Under the hood of PS4's DriveClub in new developer diary

You are here: Home » News » DriveClub » Under the hood of PS4's DriveClu...

Posted June 6th, 2013 at 20:57 EDT by Steve Chaffin2 Comments

After its reveal earlier this year in February at Sony's PlayStation 4 announcement event, an abundance of gamers have been eagerly anticipating a closer look at Evolution Studios' DriveClub, a PS4 exclusive racer that was unveiled with an array of picturesque screenshots. Today, in the latest installation to Sony's Conversations with Creators developer diary series, the minds behind DriveClub preview what may be the best racing title to date.

Among the topics discussed in the diary, DriveClub's Design Director Simon Barlow discusses some of the inspiration behind the game and some of the factors that brought it to fruition.

"When we first found out about PlayStation 4 and the features of the platform, we were really pleasantly surprised that [Sony] completely synced up with what we had in mind for DriveClub," he said.

DriveClub's Studio Game Director Matt Southern and Col Rodgers went on to discuss Evolution Studios' desire to integrate the game in the increasingly social atmosphere that has become characteristic to successful video games in recent years. DriveClub, following the trend set by Codemaster's Grid 2, places an emphasis on community, taking it a step further through the game's clubs. Every accolade, achievement, and reward earned throughout the game's single or multiplayer will be attributed towards your club's success and social standing, creating a team-based racer unlike the more individual focused racers released throughout the course of the current generation. DriveClub will also feature the ability to create a variety of different challenges that can be sent to your PlayStation Network friends, club mates, and anyone else enjoying the game.

For the full preview of Evolution Studios' DriveClub, watch the developer diary below:

More news regarding Evolution Studios' DriveClub is expected to be released at this year's E3, taking place June 11-13. Stay tuned here at PSU.com, and on Twitter @PSUdotcom, for all the latest on our first look at next generation racing.

PS4 racer DriveClub playable at E3

You are here: Home » News » Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3... » DriveClub » PS4 racer DriveClub playabl...

Posted June 7th, 2013 at 12:00 EDT by Mike Harradence0 Comments

Sony has confirmed that DriveClub, the upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive racer from Evolution Studios, will be playable at next week’s E3 convention in Los Angeles.

News comes following a post on Twitter, where both teams revealed that attendees will be able to go hands-on with the racer, first announced back in February at Sony’s New York City PS4 reveal event.

Evolution Studios is of course best known for its work on the PS3 off-road racing series MotorStorm, which seemingly wrapped with 2011’s MotorStorm Apocalypse. Despite this, the company has hinted it may return to the series at some point in the future.

DriveClub offers a more traditional racing experience compared to MotorStorm, though it isn’t to be lumped into the same category as Gran Turismo – it’s not a simulator, after all. Players can expect a team-oriented experienced, facilitated by the PS4’s much-publicised ‘Share’ button allowing you to manage teams with fellow gamers.

DriveClub has yet to attract a formal release date.
