Ubisoft reckons PlayStation 4 and Xbox One could achieve a greater two-year install base that their current-generation counterparts.
To put it into perspective, Xbox 360, which launched in November 2005, flogged 10 million consoles in its first two-and-a-half years on the market. PlayStation 3 was released a year later, and reached over 20 million sales just over two years later.
"As the industry transitions to a new console cycle, past market trends and Ubisoft's internal estimates indicate that within two years the next-gen consoles' installed base could double that of the previous generation over a comparable period,” said Ubisoft.
As previously reported in our story on the company’s E3 line-up, Ubisoft is already gearing up heavily for the arrival of next-generation systems. Many of its current-gen titles, such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One, and it is expected the firm will unveil additional next-gen projects at E3 next month.
