Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has stated his belief that the arrival of next-generation consoles later this year won’t negatively impact sales of the hotly-anticipated crime sequel, Grand Theft Auto V.
GTA V is due for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September, just a few months before the expect arrival of Sony and Microsoft’s new home consoles. However, Zelnick believes this won’t be a problem.
“Grand Theft Auto V is the most highly anticipated release of our biggest franchise. It features the largest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created,” he told MCV.
“The installed base of current generation consoles is estimated to be in excess of 120 million, and most of those consumers have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto V for years. Therefore, we expect there to be enormous consumer demand for Grand Theft Auto V regardless of when the next-generation consoles are released.”
Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be out in full force next week at E3. Stay tuned to PSU.com for all the latest news straight from Los Angeles.
