After rumors began surfacing about Tales of Symphonia getting an HD remake, series producer Hideo Baba told the world that he didn't know anything about it, leaving many fans disappointing.
Over the weekend, Namco Bandai Games held the Tales of Festival in Japan where Hideo Baba announced via YouTube that Tales of Symphonia and its sequel Dawn of the New World would be getting an HD remake bundle. Tales of Symphonia released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2004, while its sequel Dawn of the New World released exclusively on the Nintendo Wii in 2008. Though Tales of Symphonia was ported to the PS2, it never released outside of Japan.
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles (a working title for the HD collection) is slated to release October 10 in Japan and early 2014 in North America, Europe, and Australia, exclusively on PS3.
In 2011, Namco Bandai promised that the Tales franchise would receive more love in the west. With Tales of Graces F dropping last year and Tales of Xillia coming this August, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles will be the third Tales of game releasing outside of Japan within a 2-year period. It seems Namco Bandai is keeping their word!
