Capcom has shelved plans for a particularly bloody Resident Evil: Revelations marketing stunt in light of yesterday’s horrific suspected terror attack in London.
The marketing effort would have included a large, open-air swimming pool filled with floats masquerading as human torsos, as well zombie lifeguards and diving board made to look like a corpse. Blood-red water was also set to feature using non-staining colorants.
However, the company announced that the plans have been scrapped after yesterday’s attack, which saw an off-duty British army soldier brutally murdered in Woolwich, south-east London by two men in broad daylight.
Authorities are treating the killing as a suspected terrorist attack after footage was leaked of one of the killers stating he carried out the crime as a result of Muslims being killed by British soldiers.
“In light of yesterday’s sad events we’re cancelling our Revelations pool event,” said Capcom UK. “Thank you for your understanding.”
Resident Evil: Revelations is out now in North American and hits U.K. stores tomorrow. Read our review here.
