There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

Mad Max will have an Australian accent after all, confirms Avalanche

Posted July 3rd, 2013 at 08:59 EDT by Mike Harradence0 Comments

Avalanche Studios has confirmed that its forthcoming Mad Max video game will feature a protagonist with an Australian accent.

This may not seem like a big deal at first, but for many fans of the franchise, Avalanche’s original decision to eschew Max’s aussie heritage and plump for a generic U.S. voiceover came as disappointment.

As a result, gamers started out a petition to have Max’s accent changed, and it seems to have paid off.

Writing on Twitter, Avalanche’s Christofer Sundberg commented, “Attn. fans who want Max to have an Aussie accent in #MadMaxGame : It shall be so. We admire your loyalty. You have been heard.”

Mad Max was unveiled during E3 and will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360 in 2014.

Pin ItArticle EditDiscussAchieving a good credit score can be a realistic goal after filing for bankruptcy. You can build credit after bankruptcy by making wise financial decisions. Live within your means and use credit accounts sparingly. Make payments on time. Ensure building a good credit score is something you are committed to doing. Building credit after bankruptcy takes time, but happens through careful planning.

EditSteps

Maintain Current Loans1In many states, an individual filing bankruptcy can keep mortgages and car loans. These loans are a good tool for rebuilding credit.

2Make payments to mortgage lenders and on car loans on time each month.

3Pay more than the minimum payment whenever possible.

4Give the process time to help you establish a strong payment history on your credit report.

Use Secured Credit Cards1Secured credit cards are deposit-based cards that can help you build credit after bankruptcy. A deposit is necessary to establish the credit line. Then, you can use the credit card as you would any credit card.

2Ensure the secured card reports to the 3 national credit bureaus monthly so it helps to build your credit history.

3Make monthly payments on the secured credit card on time, since on-time payments account for as much as 35% of your credit score.

4Use the card minimally and keep the balance as low as possible to keep your debt-to-credit-limit ratio low.

Check Your Credit Report1Monitor your credit report on a regular basis. You may notice the discharge of your bankruptcy about a month after it becomes official. Debts filed in bankruptcy should also be on the credit report.

2File a claim with the credit agency if the credit report does not list the bankruptcy discharge after 60 days.

3Ensure all other details on the credit report are accurate to avoid any additional, negative findings.

4Be sure that inquiries come off your report after 2 years. Other debts and collections will remain for 7 years while bankruptcies will remain on the report for 10 years.

Apply for Credit Cards1Some credit card lenders will send credit card offers to you within 6 to 9 months after the bankruptcy has been discharged. Accept only the best, but realize these are just the beginning.

2You want to accept at least one of these cards to help you to establish a good credit rating.

3Do not accept more than 1-to-3 credit lines over a period of six months, as this will negatively affect your credit score.

4Choose cards wisely, monitoring the costs of them including interest rates, application fees, annual fees and set-up fees.

5Keep the balance on these cards low and pay them on time each month.

Edit TipsBe careful not to apply for too many loans at one time. This can have a negative impact on your credit score. You can obtain a free copy of your credit report 1 time per year from each of the three national credit bureaus, TransUnion, Experian and Equifax. This can help you check your report frequently for errors.Auto and mortgage lenders may be willing to offer credit to an individual within 18 months to 2 years of the discharge of bankruptcy. Use these loans to help you to reestablish your credit score.

Sony releases PlayStation 3 firmware 4.46 after paralyzing 4.45 update

Posted June 27th, 2013 at 02:17 EDT by Steve Chaffin1 Comments

Updates generally don't come with the disclaimer "This will break your console," but it would have been appreciated by the users whose consoles were bricked by PlayStation 3 firmware update 4.45 last week. Despite the shortcoming, however, Sony has kept its word: a new update, 4.46, has been released today and Sony has posted detailed instructions of how the update can be installed by users with inoperable PS3s. Aside from not rendering consoles useless, update 4.46 boasts no new tweaks over its now infamous predecessor.

If you're fortunate enough to have sidestepped update 4.45, this new firmware can be installed as it would be regularly. If your console was effected by the firmware frenzy, follow Sony's step-by-step guide on how to acquire 4.46 and get back to your gaming ways.

Xbox 180? Microsoft reverses Xbox One DRM policy after PlayStation dominates at E3

You are here: Home » News » Xbox 180? Microsoft reverses Xbo...

Posted June 19th, 2013 at 18:11 EDT by Ernest Lin31 Comments

In a huge surprise, Microsoft has done a complete 180 with the Xbox One and has removed its controversial digital rights management protection, which included requiring the console to connect to the internet once every 24 hours and complicated restrictions on used games. The news comes after last week's E3, where Sony dominated with their PlayStation 4.

In a statement posted on the official Xbox website, Don Mattrick, President, Interactive Entertainment Business for Microsoft, wrote, "You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world."

"So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360."

Microsoft has done away with any restrictions on used Xbox One games and no longer requires an online connection for the console, except for a "one-time system set-up." In addition, Xbox One will not be region-locked, as it was originally supposed to.

Sony announced last week at their E3 press conference that the PS4 will not block used games or require any internet connection whatsoever. Soon afterwards, they confirmed the system would be region-free as well.

PS4 still benefits from a $100 cheaper price point, but this new development makes the Xbox One more appealing than it was before. How do you think this will change the console war going forward? Let us know in the comments and keep checking back here at PSU for all the latest on PlayStation.

Call of Duty: Ghosts doesn't use a brand new engine after all

You are here: Home » News » Call of Duty: Ghosts » Call of Duty: Ghosts doesn't use...

Posted May 23rd, 2013 at 08:56 EDT by Mike Harradence7 Comments

Infinity Ward has offered clarification on its supposed new game engine Call of Duty: Ghosts, confirming it’s a significantly upgraded piece of tech rather than something built completely from scratch.

Reports indicated that Ghosts had been built on an all-new engine, though this was brought into question after footage of the title surfaced at Microsoft’s Xbox One event earlier this week.

Speaking with OPM, Zach Volker, Infinity Ward’s animation lead, commented: “When we’re talking about a new engine we’re talking about upgrading significant systems within in that engine. We’re not talking about throwing it all away and saying we’re starting from the ground up”.

Volker said that it would be “impossible to develop a new engine from the ground up in a two years cycle,” adding, “What we do is we say, ‘okay what are the things that are significant and that we would say that are encompassing of the engine or its visual quality? Are those being upgraded in a significant way? Alright, then I think that warrants that we’ve got a new engine on our hands’”.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is scheduled for release on multiple platforms, including next-generation consoles, in November.

Resident Evil: Revelations PR stunt cancelled after London killing

You are here: Home » News » Resident Evil: Revelations » Resident Evil: Revelations PR st...

Posted May 23rd, 2013 at 05:59 EDT by Mike Harradence0 Comments

Capcom has shelved plans for a particularly bloody Resident Evil: Revelations marketing stunt in light of yesterday’s horrific suspected terror attack in London.

The marketing effort would have included a large, open-air swimming pool filled with floats masquerading as human torsos, as well zombie lifeguards and diving board made to look like a corpse. Blood-red water was also set to feature using non-staining colorants.

However, the company announced that the plans have been scrapped after yesterday’s attack, which saw an off-duty British army soldier brutally murdered in Woolwich, south-east London by two men in broad daylight.

Authorities are treating the killing as a suspected terrorist attack after footage was leaked of one of the killers stating he carried out the crime as a result of Muslims being killed by British soldiers.

“In light of yesterday’s sad events we’re cancelling our Revelations pool event,” said Capcom UK. “Thank you for your understanding.”

Resident Evil: Revelations is out now in North American and hits U.K. stores tomorrow. Read our review here.
