There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

Kojima reveals Metal Gear Solid remake, possible portable integration for MGSV

You are here: Home » News » Metal Gear Solid V: The Pha... » Kojima reveals Metal Gear Solid ...

Posted June 25th, 2013 at 17:28 EDT by Timothy Nunes9 Comments

A roundtable interview with Hideo Kojima, attended by GameReactor, has revealed that he is planning a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, and he's interested in Metal Gear Solid V having some form of digital integration.

Kojima let slip about the MGS remake when a fan, who managed to get into the interview, stated that a remake of the first two games should be made in the Fox Engine. Kojima then said that he is currently searching for a studio to remake the first game in that engine.

GamesReactor proceeded to ask Kojima about the impact of the next generation of consoles on him. He responded, "For us it's not about upgraded graphics or anything like that. We're really looking forward to the fact that we can now use multiple devices to play a game. So whether it's smart phones or tablets, we can play Metal Gear Solid V on that tablet or smartphone and integrate that into what we have on the console. So people can play the game essentially 24 hours and be in the world of MGS anytime they like to."

Whether Kojima wants to port the Fox Engine to a handheld device or, more likely considering the limitations of current hardware, create a smaller integrated game or application is still unclear.

Metal Gear Solid has already been remade once in 2004 as Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, a Gamecube exclusive.

Are you interested in a remake of Metal Gear Solid? And do you think that digital integration would benefit Metal Gear Solid V? Let us know in the comments section below.

EA labels VP reveals context of Mirror's Edge reboot, Star Wars: Battlefront

Posted June 25th, 2013 at 01:51 EDT by Steve Chaffin4 Comments

EA labels vice president Patrick Söderlund discussed in an interview with CVG two of developer DICE's current projects, both of which have been long-awaited, Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror's Edge 2.

Because of the following behind the Star Wars: Battlefront franchise, it is both ironic and a little shocking to consider that the opportunity was almost passed up completely. It was only once Söderlund discussed the possibility with DICE that the idea took shape, and the developers excitement and persistence are largely responsible for making the new Battlefront game a reality.

"It was almost not happening," Söderlund said. "It was just something as boring as resources and availability. The DICE guys Karl Magnus Troedsson and Patrick Bach were talking and I told them we were in dialogues with Disney over this deal and they just looked at me and said, 'Why haven't you spoken to us? What are you doing? We want to make Battlefront.'"

Söderlund explains that he was initially surprised by DICE's eagerness to begin working on the next Battlefront title. "I didn't anticipate them wanting to work on a license – they've always been new IP or their own IP," Söderlund resumed. "But they were just like, 'we would kill to make this game' and the whole studio started talking about it like, 'please give us this game'. That's when I called Frank [Gibeau, EA Labels boss] and I realised we had something here. [...] They begged to do it, the opportunity was there and that's exactly why you'll see a game that will be what it needs to be."

It's terrifying in retrospect to consider that this "match made in heaven", as Söderlund describes the relationship between DICE and Battlefront, could have been passed up forever.

Turning the discussion towards the Mirror's Edge reboot, Söderlund revealed that, while DICE had been experimenting with a sequel for years, there were no definitive plans to move forward with the game until one key interaction.

"I'll be honest with you: we've been looking at Mirror's Edge for many years and had small prototype teams and incubations around what it could be," Söderlund explained. "But it wasn't until Sara Jansson, who is now the producer on it, came to me and called Karl-Magnus Troedsson and said, 'listen, I have an idea for what this could be'. She presented a vision so inspiring ... (continued on next page)

BioWare reveals Mass Effect 4, Dragon Age III will share similar elements

You are here: Home » News » Dragon Age III » BioWare reveals Mass Effect 4, D...

Posted June 19th, 2013 at 06:52 EDT by Mike Harradence0 Comments

BioWare has indicated that the next entries in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises will boast more than a few core elements in common with each other.

The revelation comes via a series of Tweets by Yanick Roy, studio director over at BioWare’s Montreal studio. He also snapped a shot of Mass Effect 4’s meaty-looking design document.

“Don’t worry: we have a large and talented team, we started a while ago, and we are “borrowing” a lot of game systems from DA3,” said Roy, in response to a fan lamenting the long wait for ME4.

Another follower then quizzed Roy on whether both games would have similar elements, to which he replied:

“Yes, since we share engine, we can start from some of DA3’s core systems instead of from scratch.”

Mass Effect 4 is in the early stages of development, though right now we don’t even know if it will be a prequel or sequel to the original trilogy featuring Commander Shepard. Dragon Age III: Inquisition meanwhile appears to be a little further along in development, though has still yet to receive a massive info blowout.

What do you want to see from Mass Effect 4? Also, are you looking forward to Dragon Age III? Were you disappointed with DA2 like so many gamers were? Let us know in the comments section below.

Capcom has a 'big surprise' in store for E3 as it reveals full line-up

You are here: Home » News » Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3... » DuckTales Remastered » Capcom has a 'big surprise'...

Posted June 6th, 2013 at 12:34 EDT by Mike Harradence7 Comments

Capcom has unveiled its line-up for E3 next week, confirming the likes of Lost Planet 3 and DuckTales Remastered will be among the games on display.

While there’s not many surprises in the line-up, it seems the Resident Evil developer does have something up its sleeves that it’s not ready to share just yet, as you can see below.

Here’s the full line-up. Note the final item on the list – what could it be exactly?

-DuckTales Remastered (PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, Wii U, PC)
-Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (PSN, XBLA, Wii U, PC)
-Lost Planet 3 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)
-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies (3DS)
-“A big surprise”

So, what “surprise” is Capcom prepping? Recent speculation has suggested the publisher will unveil a third entry in the Dead Rising franchise, though nothing has been confirmed. In addition, there were murmurs of Resident Evil 7 appearing at the show, though those were quickly debunked.

Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details.
