Incredibly, against all odds, Agent--the Rockstar Games spy thriller announced in 2009 as a PS3 exclusive--is still in development, after long-standing rumors of cancellation or indefinite delay.
The last official word we heard of Agent was at E3 2011, when SCEA CEO Jack Tretton said he wasn't sure if the game was still a PS3 exclusive. In the months and years since, the game has dropped completely off the map, being left out of everything from gaming conventions to Take-Two earnings calls.
But now, we have seeming confirmation that the game still exists and is currently in development alongside Grand Theft Auto V. Jon Young, Research Video Editor at Rockstar Games, had the following to say on his LinkedIn profile:
"Cull the history of film, TV, web television and documentaries editing and submitting video shorts and feature length DVDs to department VPs contributing largely to the production of Rockstar Games’ highest profile releases: GTA IV, Midnight Club Los Angeles, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne 3 and many in development e.g., GTA V, AGENT"
E3 2013 will be the next generation's coming out party, with a great deal of focus given to PlayStation 4 and "next Xbox" announcements and reveals. Will we see more of Agent in just a few short weeks?
