There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

It'd be a crime not to pre-order the reduced GTA V Collector's Edition

You are here: Home » News » Grand Theft Auto V » It'd be a crime not to pre-order...

Posted July 1st, 2013 at 11:09 EDT by Mike Harradence1 Comments

Various U.K. retail outlets have reduced the asking price of the Grand Theft Auto V Collector’s and Special Edition SKUs.

GAME kicked things off by slashing the price of the Special Edition to £54.99 this past weekend, and was followed by Tesco lowering the Collector’s Edition price to £99.99. The pack previously retailed for £119.99.

If that wasn’t enough, ASDA has also employed similar measures, cutting the bundle to the £100 mark to match its competitor.

For those out of the loop, the Collector’s Edition features a host of extra goodies in addition to a copy of the hotly-anticipated crime romp. Specifically, you’ll get a GTA V security deposit bag with logo key, a GTA V Snapback cap, custom online characters, and unique vehicles and garage property.

This is in addition to all the contents of the Special Edition, which packs in the following: Steelbook with exclusive artwork, Blueprint map, special ability boost, stunt plane trials, bonus outfits and tattoos, and extra weapons.

Tempted? Then be sure to hit the links provided above to get your pre-orders in sharpish – these beauties won’t be around for long, you can bet that much.

Grand Theft Auto V will be committing atrocities throughout the U.S. and Europe on September 17 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Posted July 1st, 2013 at 00:25 EDT by Matt Fernandez0 Comments

A listing on GameStop's website shows that a special collector's edition of Terraria for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is set for release July 30th, and it appears that the game will cost $39.99.

Included in the collector's edition will be a pickaxe-shaped USB flash drive, a crafting map, and three posters of different characters. Interestingly enough, the Xbox 360 version of the collector's edition comes with a physical copy of Terraria and the PS3 version comes with a digital voucher for the game.

Terraria is already available on PC, PSN, and XBLA.

Check out the images of the collector's editions below. Does the addition of a physical copy matter to you? Tell us which version you will be picking up in the comments.

PS4 Launch Edition - Join the PlayStation community

Posted June 26th, 2013 at 07:31 EDT by Steven Williamson5 Comments

PlayStation Universe hosts one of the biggest and most vibrant PlayStation communities on the web and many of our readers are going to be among the first to own a PlayStation 4 when it launches this year.

That’s why we want you to know that PSU is the best place to discuss PlayStation 4 with fellow core gamers. Forum Elder, Savage360, has taken imitative and set up a PS4 Launch Edition thread specifically for those people who have pre-ordered a PS4. This will be a place where those getting the console on day one can enjoy the build-up to release date and can immediately talk about their experiences when they unwrap their new shiny PS4.

Here’s what Savage360, who has actually ordered three PS4s for himself, has to say:

“Hello everyone! With the recent PlayStation 4 announcements such as price and availability many people in the world have already pre-ordered the PlayStation 4 to get ready for the launch of a next-generation of gaming.

I wanted to make a thread that's dedicated to people who have already pre-ordered a PlayStation 4 and are guaranteed to be playing on Day One. This thread will be updated all-through-out the launch and will contain a list of people from PSU who have "Launch Edition" of the PlayStation 4. It doesn't matter where you get the system from whether it’s Amazon, Best Buy or Gamestop.

If you have already own/reserve a PlayStation 4 and will be playing on Day One please list your name in this thread to be added and that way we can all jump in and have a launch party/fun time when Sony's next-generation hardware finally launches.”

To join in PlayStation 4 discussion head over to this thread and join the most vibrant PlayStation forum on the web.

If I was to tell you that you have to undertake a challenging journey for a second time it's probably not going to be the news you'd want to hear. However,  with the release of the Journey: Collector’s Edition package you will probably agree that embarking on this particular adventure second time around is actually very good news.

Journey, the mystical game of discovery from thatgamecompany, was originally released in 2012 and is now available in a collector's edition which is packed full of extra features and games. I'm going to run you through exactly what you get if you decide to pick up this collector's edition of the game which PSU called on release:

" Truly one of the best gaming experiences I have had in my 20+ years of gaming. "

First of all you don't just get the original version of the game Journey, the collector's edition includes the original versions of the games flOw and Flower plus three brand new online mini games as well.

Now if you want to read what PSU thought of Journey when it was first released click here, a review of Flower can be found here and one for flOw here.

So, at the moment the collector's edition is great value for money with six games but that isn't the end of the extras this package holds.

Each of the main games comes with a selection of features which include commentaries, screenshot galleries, trailers, dynamic themes, dev-diaries, sound tracks and more.  When you access these features you notice they aren't just a throwaway addition to the package either as each extra item has depth. For example, the Journey director's commentary video features three directors chatting not just about the game but also its influences, history and so much more. It’s a fascinating listen and it’s impossible to explain how much love has gone into these extras and how much they really expand and enhance your enjoyment of the three main games.

So, if a Journey begins with just a single step then the Journey collector's edition is wearing seven-league boots. You shouldn’t miss out on this fantastic package of great games and amazing extras.

PS3-exclusive Beyond: Two Souls Special Edition box art revealed

You are here: Home » News » BEYOND: Two Souls » PS3-exclusive Beyond: Two Souls ...

Posted June 9th, 2013 at 09:42 EDT by Steve Chaffin2 Comments

SCE and Quantic Dream have revealed today the Special Edition box art for the PlayStation 3 exclusive, Beyond: Two Souls, which is due to release October 8, 2013.  The case features an emblazoned scene of protagonist Jodie Holmes, differing from the close-up shot of Holmes in the standard edition.

Players who upgrade to the special edition (see author's note below) will gain 30 additional minutes of gameplay, a video feature depicting the creation of the game, the game's soundtrack, as well as a bonus theme and avatar pack.

For more on the PS3-exclusive Beyond: Two Souls, starring Ellen Page as a woman with supernatural powers seeking to understand the world around her throughout various stages of her life, head over to PlayStation Universe's official game page.

More on this upcoming interactive cinema from Quantic Dream may be released at E3.  Stay tuned at PSU's E3 hub, and on Twitter @PSUdotcom.

Author's note: For gamers who know they'll be purchasing Beyond: Two Souls, GameStop is currently offering a limited number of free upgrades.  I was attempting to check the price difference between the standard release and special edition, and noticed that the special edition is currently listed for the standard $59.99.  How long this deal lasts, I'm not sure, but monetarily a wise choice for anyone who is set on making this purchase.

Steven Chaffin, Jr. | @steven_chaffin | The Editor's Desk

Steven is an American editor for PlayStation Universe, and enjoys the odd, unintended connection that will always exist between Two Soul's Jodie Holmes and The Last of Us' Ellie.

Saints Row IV: Commander In Chief Edition will be made available as a pre-order and First Edition in PAL territories, Deep Silver has announced.

This will net players a Screaming Eagle plane, complete with rocket-firing talons and a fear-inducing Sonic Scream attack.  In addition, you’ll also receive the limited edition Uncle Sam outfit and the Merica Gun, which packs an insane amount of fire power under the hood.

Saints Row IV continues the over-the-top template laid down by its predecessor, with gamers revisiting the gang’s leader as he finds himself President of the United States in the midst of an alien invasion.

The game hits stores in August for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.

In addition to this, the Deluxe Edition includes a Collectible Steelbook cover as well a bunch of bonus in-game content. The Deluxe Edition will set you back £64.99 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and costs a tenner less on PC. Next-generation versions SKUs have yet to be confirmed.

Battlefield 4 will be released in North America on October 29 and in the U.K. on November 1. That’s on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 we should point out, as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions won’t arrive until ‘this holiday.’
