There are a lot of reasons why someone might want to check out a guide like T Dub Sanders'. One might be interested in the underside of the game testing field. Others might just want to know what they can gain from a guide that is written to help people understand their role in the gaming industry. Others still are just pining for that ultimate career working alongside game developers and designers.

Whatever the reason, T Dub Sanders has put together one of the biggest and best game testing guides on the market – one that shows the underpinnings of the career in their raw, real format. There are no false promises of automatic testing or sitting at home and playing the newest games for hundreds of dollars a day.

That stuff is all pretty much a pipe dream and most people know it – yet many guide writers try to tell everyone that they can become the biggest and best new game testers in a field that doesn't really exist every day and too many fall for it. On the other hand, what T Dub has put together is a much more realistic, much more comprehensive look at what game testing is really about – the hard work and dedication that goes into becoming someone in charge of all that code each day.

By showing what it really takes to be a game tester, T Dub opens up an actual, realistic path to getting into the industry. He showcases skills needed to get started as a tester, the classes or college majors that people better be willing to invest in if they want to be a professional in this field and much more to help them figure out not only if the career path is right for them but if they are going to be cut out for it. That means a great deal for someone who may or may not know exactly what a game tester does and how it operates.

For anyone that is thinking about taking the path toward becoming a game tester, one of the first things that needs to be done is to learn more about what the career entails. Those people should pick up T Dub's newest guide and get a real insider's look at the job and how it really works. If you're serious about doing what T Dub shows you, you'll be on the fast track toward game testing in no time flat.

The Last of Us update 1.02 released

You are here: Home » News » The Last of Us » The Last of Us update 1.02 relea...

Posted June 28th, 2013 at 23:47 EDT by Timothy Nunes0 Comments

Naughty Dog today released the patch notes for update version 1.02 regarding the newest PlayStation 3-exclusive title The Last of Us.

Most of the changes are made to the multiplayer aspect of the game, but one change in particular pertains to listed phone numbers within the single player portion of the game. Unbeknownst by Naughty Dog's development team, the randomly chosen numbers as mentioned in our original report actually contact sex hotlines.

The changes are listed below for your viewing pleasure. Have you started playing The Last of Us? Our very own Steven Williamson highly recommends it in his official review.

Single player

-Texture of a phone number on a bulletin board changed

Multiplayer

-Host migration has been improved. Losing connection to the host during a migration should occur less often
-General crash when leaving multiplayer fixed
-Intro camera fix for some introductory cut-scenes
-Connectivity issues while playing have been tuned
-If you disconnect or lose connection to the host, you will no longer advance a clan day. You will only advance a day if you are kicked from the match, or exit through the menu

Gameplay

-Explosion Expert level 2 should be selectable now
-The voting time for match selection has been reduced to 15 seconds
-“No party” playlist options have been added to both Supply Raid and Survivors, players can only join this playlist solo
-Melee against a downed character now uses the same range as normal melee

---------------------------------

Tim Nunes, US Staff Editor at PSU.com, just loaded up multiplayer on The Last of Us yesterday, and he cannot stop thinking about how engaging an experience it is. To talk about Naughty Dog's latest creation, contact him on his Twitter page @BossSnake.

Bungie: 'Destiny will be released to the world in 2014'

You are here: Home » News » Destiny » Bungie: 'Destiny will be release...

Posted June 26th, 2013 at 14:09 EDT by Ernest Lin1 Comments

Bungie confirmed via Twitter today that their ambitious upcoming game Destiny will be released in 2014, dispelling any speculation of the title coming out later this year.

The studio that created Marathon, Myth, and most famously, Halo, tweeted, "Destiny will be released to the world in 2014. If you haven't received more specific details from us, they don't exist. #becomelegend"

After seeing the game at E3, this news means I'll have to wait quite some time before entering the world of Destiny, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Destiny will be released on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z second developer diary released

You are here: Home » News » Ninja Gaiden III » Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z second dev...

Posted June 8th, 2013 at 03:34 EDT by Garri Bagdasarov0 Comments

Ninja Gaiden has been a staple for Team Ninja sinse it was revived in 2004 and become known for its brutal difficulty and compelling action.

Though known primarily for its development being done inhouse by Team Ninja, the newest game is set to move over to a western developer with Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune taking the reigns.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is being developed by Spark Unlimited who is currently developing Lost Planet 3 for Capcom. Today, it has released a second developer diary where Keiji Inafune explains that the game's title Yaiba means "the blade of a sword." He goes on to say that Spark Unlimited was the perfect choice to create this spin-off to Ninja Gaiden because they were able to bring a unifying character and style of both Western and Eastern visions of the much beloved franchise.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z currently doesn't have a release date and platforms haven't been announced, but its safe to say that Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will come to both Microsoft's and Sony's current-gen consoles and it has also been rumored to be a next generation title.

Tekken Revolution outed, free-to-play, PS3 exclusive and released next week

You are here: Home » News » Tekken Revolution outed, free-to...

Posted June 9th, 2013 at 13:02 EDT by Paul Kelly3 Comments

A trailer has emerged about a new game in Namco's long-running Tekken series called Tekken Revolution.

However, this one will be free-to-play and presumably content will be purchased through microtransactions which is the usual method for this pricing structure. The game hasn't been officially announced by Namco but was spotted on NeoGAF.

The trailer can be seen below:

The trailer gives the release date of June 11th which is next week during E3, which suggests that it will be official unveiled then. It is also unclear whether this is all-new or content from Tekken Tag Tournament 2 put into a different package. Whatever the case, we will surely find out soon and when we do we will have the info here on PSU.

New E3 trailer released for PS3 exclusive side-scroller Puppeteer

You are here: Home » News » Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3... » Puppeteer » New E3 trailer released for...

Posted June 6th, 2013 at 05:20 EDT by Steve Chaffin1 Comments

A new E3 trailer appeared on Sony's official PlayStation YouTube account today, featuring SCE Japan Studio's Puppeteer, a side-scrolling platformer PlayStation exclusive that will be hitting store shelves on September 10, 2013 with a $39.99 price tag.

The trailer, less than two minutes long, theatrically reveals some of the game's narrative while depicting much of the type of fluid, platforming gameplay the game has to offer. It also highlights the studio's attention to artistry when developing the title. You can find the video below.

E3 TRAILER

Moreover, Sony has also released three trailers depicting "heads" that enable players to do overcome a variety of circumstances and obstacles. Below you can find trailers for the Pirate's Head, Knight's Head, Ninja Head, and Wrestler's Head respectively:

Pirate's Head

Knight's Head

Wrestler's Head

Ninja's Head

What are your thoughts on SCE Japan Studio's upcoming platformer? For a gamer overly-accustomed to the darker environments of first-person shooters and survival horror titles, Puppeteer serves as a vibrant reminder of how games can be both a work of lighthearted artistry and an enjoyable, addictive experience. Let me know what you think in the comments below, and discuss it with PSU's awesome community on our message boards. See you there.

PS4 to be released this year in U.K., says ad

You are here: Home » News » PS4 to be released this year in ...

Posted May 24th, 2013 at 05:27 EDT by Mike Harradence3 Comments

The latest edition of U.K. rag Metro has suggested that PlayStation 4 will be released in the U.K. this year.

Much speculation has been generating recently in regards to the U.K. launch of PS4, as Sony hasn’t committed to a firm release date other than the vague holiday 2013 window, which may pertain to the U.S. and Japan only.

However, the ad suggests otherwise.

“Now is the time,” it says. “The world’s greatest players are going to entertain, create and amaze on the ultimate stage. This year a new generation will push boundaries of play and share in moments of wonder. This year players will become legends.”

Previous reports have indicated Sony will adopt an aggressive strategy in Europe and will not want to miss out on launching PS4 there this year in response to Microsoft’s own efforts.
